The Gold Rush Is Moving Onchain
Tokenized gold is adding holders faster than ever.
Wallets holding gold tokens went from about 153,000 at the start of the year to about 338,000 by 22 October. That's about 185,000 new wallets in under ten months, more than in any full year before.
Tokenized gold is now worth more than $5 billion, up from about $150 million at the end of 2020.
Gold has come through financial crises, market crashes and generations of changing tastes in investing. People buy it to protect their wealth, to pass something down to their children and to hold an asset they trust.
Now more people want to hold it onchain.
The price helped, but it doesn't explain the shift. Gold is down this year, and holders keep arriving.
People still want gold. More of them now want it in a form that's easier to buy, hold and move, and that's the shift $GGBR is built for.
Why Gold Leads Tokenized Commodities
Gold leads tokenized commodities by a wide margin, and silver is the clearest comparison.
Both are precious metals, both are scarce, and both have real demand. Onchain, they look nothing alike.
Tokenized gold is worth about $5.4 billion. Tokenized silver is worth about $210 million. That's a gap of about 25 times.

Scarcity doesn't explain the gap. Gold is almost 20 times rarer than silver, but its lead comes from more than rarity.
Investors and central banks already hold gold to protect their wealth. A token only has to make it easier to hold: in small pieces, in a wallet, at any hour.
That's catching on. Tokenized gold traded more than $90 billion in the first quarter of 2026, more than in all of 2025, and it's still less than 0.02% of a $28 trillion gold market.
From Niche to Billions
At the end of 2021, about 14,000 wallets held gold tokens. By the end of 2025, more than 150,000 did.
Most of that growth came as gold took off. The price rose 13% in 2023, 27% in 2024 and 64% in 2025, and the rally put gold in front of people who had never looked at it before.
Many of them chose tokens. In 2025 alone, the number of wallets holding gold tokens nearly quadrupled, and tokenized gold ended the year worth about $3.6 billion, three and a half times its value a year earlier.
A token was the easier way in. New buyers could start with a fraction of an ounce, buy at any hour, keep it in the same wallet as their crypto and skip the vault, the insurance and the shipping.
The World Gold Council sees the same pattern. Of today's digital gold investors, 52% held no gold before their first digital purchase.

A Falling Price, a Growing Market
Gold hit a record of nearly $5,600 an ounce in late January. By 22 October it was near $4,021, about 28% below that peak.
Gold tokens kept growing anyway.
Since the start of the year, the ounces held in the two largest gold tokens have grown about 50%, to almost 1.17 million. Gold itself is down about 7% this year.

Since the end of 2020, the gold price has roughly doubled. The tokenized gold market has grown more than 30 times. The price doubled, but the way people hold gold changed far more.
What Comes Next
The World Gold Council expects the shift to keep going. In a report with Boston Consulting Group on 19 October, it put the digital gold market at $45–55 billion today, with tokenized gold as one part of it.
Its base case has digital gold growing about 27% a year, to $160–170 billion by 2031. Nearly nine in ten investors it surveyed said they would consider digital gold under the right conditions.

The report also names what stands in the way: trust, access, utility and cost. World Gold Council CEO David Tait put it plainly: "demand cannot scale without the right infrastructure behind it."
Where $GGBR Fits
Those four barriers are the ones $GGBR is built around.
Trust. $GGBR is backed by 1,000,000 troy ounces of in-situ gold held by the GGBR Trust, and every token holder is a beneficiary. The CertiK and Cyfrin audits and the reserve dashboard are public, so holders can check them for themselves. Goldfish is also listed on CertiK's Top Emerging RWAs.
Access. One $GGBR is 1/1000 of a troy ounce, so you can start with a small amount. It trades on Uniswap and is indexed on Ledger.
Utility. $GGBR is an onchain token. It sits in the same wallet as the rest of your crypto and moves like any other token.
Cost. There's no vault to rent, no insurance to buy and no bars to ship.
The gold rush is moving onchain. As it grows, holders will pick the tokens they can check, reach and use, and $GGBR is built to be one of them.
